Goa Public Service Commission Examination

The state Government of Goa conducts the Goa Public Service Commission (Goa PSC) Examination for the recruitment of candidates in various departments under the state Government of Goa.

Goa Public Service Commission (Goa PSC) Eligibility criteria

All candidates seeking for the Goa Public Service Commission recruitment must be Indian citizens.

Education Requirements: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university/college/institution.

Age Limit: All service positions require a minimum age of 18 years. The maximum age limit varies per category:
  • General category: 33 years
  • SC/ST: 38 years
  • OBC: 35 years
Age Relaxation: Age relaxations shall be applied per government regulations established by the Indian government. Candidates from various categories are eligible for age relaxation. The requirements are as follows:
  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC candidates : 3 years
  • Persons with disabilities: 5 years
  • Government servants: 5 years

Goa Public Service Commission (Goa PSC) Exam Pattern

The Goa GPSC (Administrative Services) Exam is a written examination. Candidates have to clear the written examination for the final selection. The candidates who qualify in the written exam are shortlisted for the interview and the final selection is done on a merit basis.

The Goa GPSC Exam is a written exam consisting of two papers- Paper-I & Paper-II. Paper-I consists of 200 questions and Paper-II consists of a total of 50 marks. The total marks for the written examination are 250 marks.

Part A
General Intelligence, Reasoning and Numerical Aptitude.

Part B
Basics of Indian Constitution, Governance and Administration.
This component is aimed at testing the candidate’s knowledge and aptitude on issues and themes relating to the Indian Constitution, Governance, and Administration. On the Constitution, the student must be familiar with the key provisions of the law having a direct linkage to the functioning of the Indian Democracy and also the debates surrounding Constitutional Reform/ Amendment. Concerning Governance and administration, he must be familiar with the role of bureaucracy, central state, and local level governance mechanisms (concerning India and The state of Goa), fundamentals of good governance and emerging issues in society bureaucracy interface. The select themes shall include:

Indian Constitution: Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, Directive Principles of State Policy.
Indian Constitution and the State: Legislature, Executive Judiciary.
Centre State Relations, Union, State and Concurrent Lists, Budgetary
Allocations, Role of Finance and Planning Commissions.
Elections and Electoral Processes, Central and State Election Commissions,
Representation of People’s Act.
Role of Bureaucracy in nation building, Civil Services Training, C.C.S Rules, Integrity in Administration, Public Private Partnership.
Good Governance: Efficiency, Transparency, Accountability in Governance, Right to Information, Role of Lokayukta and Local.

Part C
General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
This component is intended to test the candidate’s awareness and knowledge on general issues of both historical and contemporary nature relating to India and the state of Goa. The questions aim at testing both the factual as well as the analytical grasp of the candidate on such issues without actually testing deeper knowledge on the subject. It may contain questions on history, geography, culture, scientific developments and current affairs. The select themes shall include:
Current Events of State, National and International Importance
India’s Freedom struggle, Goa’s Freedom struggle.
Physical, Economic and Social Geography of India and Goa
Religion, Customs and Festivals: India and Goa.
Information and Communication Technology, Biodiversity, Environment and Climate Change
Social Movements: Corruption, Environment, Women’s issues.

Step 2: Go to the Homepage and click the ‘Recruitment' option, then fill in all of your personal information, such as your username and password, if you haven't already. If not registered, please do that at the earliest to secure the username and password.
